Hey there friends – I am feeling extremely lazy with my words today (not a good sign for a “writer”), so I am going to do this post as a photoblog, instead! Exciting, I know.

Just to set the scene: Kent and I went “out west” to Harrisonburg this past weekend. I absolutely LOVE going to Harrisonburg for many reasons, including: family, fashion (yes, fashion – my favorite boutique, The Yellow Button, is in Harrisonburg!) and food food food!!!! Harrisonburg is surrounded by mountains and farms, so the food out there is just so fresh and fantastic – especially in historic downtown, which is going through a “revitalization.” The area has a wonderful local food movement going on, and that is most evident at the farmer’s market! So here is where I stop talking and start photoblogging…

We spent Saturday morning at the local farmer’s market, which is the happening place in downtown Harrisonburg. Local farmers from the area come to sell food and crafts (some gorgeous jewelry). Here is my first peek at fall – crisp apples! I  bought a bag-full to make that apple pie I promised (see previous post for some clarification).

As I walked through the farmer’s market, fall became more and more evident! Pumpkins and squashes, galore!

The market may have shown signs of fall, but in Virginia, it is still tomato season! We took a bunch of heirloom tomatoes home and made some delicious caprese salad with some basil (also from the farmer’s market) and fresh buffalo mozzarella.

I love these colors. And I think these vegetables inspired me to buy a great purple dress at Yellow Button later on that day….

Fresh bison meat from a local Blue Ridge farm… So last night we made bison burgers (to eat with our caprese salad)! … Not to brag, but they were…amazing.

Kent said I was being creepy, but I absolutely loved this guy’s shirt (so I needed a picture). You can’t read the front, but it says, “Yeah, we are blessed.” And as you can see from the back, it reads: “Lucinda Williams” …who happens to be my favorite female artist (and Blessed is her latest album). Awesome!

And the final pie product! I actually ended up making two… one peach and one apple, since there seemed to be an abundance of ripe peaches in town at the time!
