Today started liked most Sundays do – Shortly after I woke up, I poured over magazines, cookbooks and food blogs in search of some inspiration for this week’s meals (or at least tonight’s meal).
After dog-earing, pinning and bookmarking a few recipes, I became oh-so frustrated with each list of ingredients. Why, you might ask? Because I have had it up to HERE (my arms are all the way over my head, people) with buying bunches of fresh herbs at the store, only to use a few leaves for a recipe and watch the rest go to waste. (No matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to use a whole bunch of herbs!)
That is why, en route to Whole Foods this morning, I stopped off at a local garden store to do my herb shopping. Yes, I am attempting to grow an urban herb garden.
Of course, I have some challenges ahead of me, like space (I have a “balcony” that is about ½ foot in width), my inability to keep plants alive and the puppy’s surprising interest in the herb beds, but I am optimistic that this garden will help to keep my grocery bill down and my culinary creativity alive!
I know this posts is practically worthless since this is a food blog and there is not a single recipe on this page – But stay tuned! I predict some fresh and yummy dishes in the near future.
Happy growing!
Rachel
